Framed copy of Pencil Sketch in Lot# 54
"Born in Toronto, Canada on May 22, 1883. At age three Knott settled with his family in Burlington, VT. Opting for an art career, he studied in NYC at the Pratt Institute and ASL under Birge Harrison, George Bridgman, and Dudley Murphy. He made summer trips to California prior to relocating there in 1920. After one year in Laguna Beach, he moved north to Carmel. While working for a builder as a designer of houses, he was active in the local art colony and a founding member of the Carmel Art Assn. Following his marriage in 1928, he moved down the coast to Morro Bay into a Cape Cod-style house called 'Little House of River Winds" where he remained until his death on April 16, 1977. A master of light and shade, Knott captured on canvas the beauty of the Monterey Peninsula and Morro Bay of yesteryear"
