Pickup for this estate will be in Sunnyvale, CA (yes, in the south bay!) on Friday Feb 25 and Saturday Feb 26. If you can't make those dates, please contact me ([email protected]) before end of the auction to see if other arrangements can be made. Flexibility is there but will be limited. Items will not be moved to another location for pickup. You will be responsible for bringing appropriate muscle, tools, and vehicle for removing your new purchases.
I am back at Bay Area Online Auctions for a few months I hope, resurfacing to bring you a mostly mid-century modern estate if you define mostly as 51%. This is the estate of James Wong, an immigrant from mainland China via Taiwan who came to the US in 1968 sponsored by my father through the Naturalization and Immigration Act of 1965. James was my step-grandfather, but he married my grandmother in Taiwan years before I was born so as far as I was concerned I didn't know him as anything other than my grandfather. By trade, James became a draftsman, creating (yes, kids, by hand) plans for circuit boards in the early days of Silicon Valley. He was an avid fisherman (sorry, couldn't find his poles) and in his retirement became a very talented watercolor artist. My family took most of his art (which I'm glad they did) so you won't see much of his ability, but there is both Asian and non-Asian art left in the estate as well as a few pieces I found tucked away that everyone missed. You'll also find art supplies, drafting supplies, and lots and lots of picture frames. A few mid-century modern pieces of furniture, some non-mid-century furniture and some questionable century furniture are also looking for new homes.
If you participated in one of my auctions previously, then you know that I try to be as flexible as possible with your busy schedules. Unfortunately, my flexibility will be limited on this one. Because I live an hour away, Sunnyvale will be the only pickup location I can support. I am open to alternate pickup times later that week but you must discuss them with me before the end of the auction because I have a day job also. I want to be flexible here but let's make sure we work something out before you commit to purchasing.
I will not be offering shipping for this auction. Because this is an estate clearout, I made the lots larger than we typically do. Some of the lots have large oversized items that would have required sourcing or constructing a shipping carton. So if the issue is pickup times, see above. If the issue is Sunnyvale is too far, I can't help you with that one.
Winners are responsible for removing your items from the home yourselves as well as bringing your own packing materials. If what you need is a shopping bag, I got you covered. The number of bags I've discovered that just contained empty bags is tremendous. But boxes, bubble wrap, furniture dollies, blankets, and muscle will be your responsibility.
Anything that does not sell in the auction will be put in our Let's Make a Deal and/or Free table at pickup.
