This striking carved blackware jar by Santa Clara Pueblo potter Rose M. Lewis features deep traditional incised designs, including Kokopelli-style figures and flowing geometric motifs, all hand-carved into the clay before firing. The upper shoulder is stone-polished to a rich reflective sheen, contrasted by the matte carved fields below, and the subtly angled rim adds a distinctive contemporary touch. Hand-coiled and reduction-fired in the classic Santa Clara tradition, this mid-size vessel measures approximately 6.5 inches tall and is signed on the base. A beautiful example of authentic Native American pottery craftsmanship.
