Pair of authentic J.B. Hirsch pirate figural bookends dating to the Art Deco period, circa 1930s. Each bronze-patinated cast metal figure depicts a seated buccaneer holding a flintlock pistol and mounted upon a variegated marble base. The figures feature molded celluloid faces, a distinctive design element associated with J.B. Hirsch decorative bookends of the period. One bookend retains its original face while the second is missing the celluloid facial insert.
